                  Rich Karban - Head Coach
Coach Karban has been the Cleveland State University diving coach
for 16 years. Rich started his coaching career as CSU's assistant
diving coach in 1985 & 1986 and became the Head Coach in 1987.
For 3 years from 1987-1989 he coached 5 Cleveland area high school
teams during the school year and coached in the summer at Mission
Bay Aquatic Training Center in Boca Raton, Florida. His coaching with Mission Bay enabled him to work with Olympic Diving Coach Ron O'Brien, as well as other top coaches. Due to NCAA regulations he was not able to coach CSU during his time with Mission Bay. In 1989 he became the Head Diving Coach at Eastern Michigan University for 5 years. While at EMU Rich also coached Eastern Michigan Area Diving, a registered USA Diving team much like Cleveland Area Diving. The EMAD team was recognized as one of the top programs in the State of Michigan as well as the United States. After leaving coaching to pursue a career in sales for 9 years Rich returned to Cleveland State University as Head Diving Coach in 2003.

Prior to coaching, Rich had a very successful diving career as a local high school diver and was one of the finest divers in Cleveland State history.  While at CSU, Rich was the 1st Eastern Intercollegiate Diving champion in school history. He was awarded The Most Outstanding Team Member on CSU's 1984 team and was inducted into The Cleveland State University Athletics Hall of Fame in 2000.
